“When you come bring the cloak which I left at Troas with Carpus, and the books, especially the parchments.” — 2 Timothy 4:13

“He is inspired, and yet he wants books! He has seen the Lord, and yet he wants books! He has had wider experience than most men, and yet he wants books! He had been caught up in the third heaven, and had heard things unlawful for a man to utter, yet he wants books! He has written a major part of the New Testament, and yet he wants books!

“The apostle says to Timothy and so he says to every Christian, ‘Give thyself to reading.’ The man who never reads will never be read; he who never quotes will never be quoted. He who will not use the thoughts of other men’s brains proves he has no brains of his own.”

Critics will dismiss it for its hyperbole, lack of nuance, and in-your-face attitude. But she has the gist just right, which is that materialism (she calls it liberalism) dominates our culture despite being held by only a minority of the populace and has become an agenda among our elites (academy, scientists, media) for total worldview reprogramming. Close to half the book is devoted to science and evolution. I cannot help but feel that GODLESS will propel our issues in the public consciousness like nothing to date. Phillip Johnson’s DARWIN ON TRIAL took ten years to sell 300,000 copies.

For more than two decades I have been selling books. During some of those years I did it as a hobby. For more than a decade it was my main source of income. This last year I have been selling books mainly because it is something that I have done for most of my life.

That really isn’t a good reason, and my time has become more valuable to me than the few dollars that I am making with the half-hearted effort I am putting into it.

So, . . . I am GOING OUT OF BUSINESS. I will be closing down my Ebay store sometime in the next few weeks. I have listed about 100 or so books this week as auctions, and will gradually sell off the rest of my inventory that way, as well.

So, you might want to check out my auctions. When I sell my books at auction there are invariably some things that sell for much more than what they should and other items that sell for pennies on the dollar, so use discernment and I think you will find a good bargain or two.

If you note an air of sadness, you are correct. This marks a pretty significant change for me, . . I will miss being The Bookman.
